Where to Eat in El Nido: 9 Best Restaurants in Town

What food is El Nido famous for?

As a major tourist destination, El Nido offers a wide range of international cuisine. I’ve found there’s also a surprisingly good variety of plant-based and vegan options.

That said, while the choice is huge, the quality and food hygiene can vary quite a bit between places. To avoid any unwanted “island tummy” surprises, I usually stick to spots that are consistently well reviewed and popular with locals and long-term travellers.

Based on what I’ve seen locals return to and what travellers tend to rave about, here are my top recommendations for where to eat in El Nido.

Where to eat in El Nido town proper ?  Piece of Sky El Nido

Average Cost: 600 – 1,000 PHP

Located on the rooftop of The H Hotel, Piece of Sky offers an elevated view over El Nido Bay.

I’ve found the setting to be chic yet relaxed. On some evenings the atmosphere is even more vibrant with live saxophone performances, which adds a beautiful layer of energy to the night. While it’s often used for special occasions or group dinners, I believe it’s just as worthy of a visit as a treat for yourself during your stay.

The staff are genuinely attentive and seem to take real care when coordinating themed set-ups. It’s definitely pricier than most places in town, but for the combination of the view and the food, I’d say it’s a must-visit experience not just for celebrations, but as a premium highlight for one of your nights in El Nido.

The menu focuses on modern Filipino cuisine, with the Tuna Steak being a consistent highlight for its freshness and expert preparation.

Notably, this is one of the few places in El Nido where I’ve found the desserts to be truly exceptional, which is a rare find in a town where fresh dairy can be hard to come by. As both a bar and restaurant, it’s an ideal spot to linger over a signature cocktail long after the sun goes down.

If you happen to be staying at  H Hotel, the convenience is unbeatable; you can simply head upstairs to rest after a refined evening. Even with its premium positioning, the combination of the scenery, live music, and high-quality food makes it a must-visit experience for a more “dressed-up” island evening.

Best restaurants in El Nido : Ver De

For those seeking a lighter alternative to the town’s common BBQ and seafood, Ver De offers a plant-based menu inside H Hotel El Nido.

The restaurant is set within a quiet, green space, providing a contrast to the busier streets outside.

The Jackfruit Burger is a signature item; its texture is often noted for its similarity to pulled pork, though some diners may find the seasoning quite strong.

Alternatively, the Smoothie Bowls are a popular choice for the midday heat, prepared with fresh fruit and granola. While prices are higher than the local average, the quality of the ingredients and the tranquil setting make it a reliable option for a plant-based meal.

Best restaurants in El Nido: Haim chicken

Average Cost: Around 250 – 450 PHP

Haim Chicken is a true Palawan staple with its roots in Puerto Princesa. I’ve found their El Nido branch to offer a very relaxed, semi-open dining space where the high ceilings and natural breeze create a comfortable, laid-back atmosphere.

It’s the kind of place that feels unpretentious and welcoming with plenty of room to settle in and enjoy a local meal

The Chicken Inasal is definitely a; marinated and charcoal-grilled until the skin is smoky and crisp while the meat remains tender. For the full experience, pair it with their signature garlic rice and house sauce. It’s an exceptional meal that offers great value for money.

The Pork BBQ Skewers is aa real standout, offering a great balance between the sweet-salty marinade and those perfectly charred edges. The Grilled Chicken is just as impressive, prized for its deep, smoky flavour.

One of my favourite parts about dining here is the complimentary bowl of traditional sour soup; its sharp, tangy profile is the perfect palate cleanser after the rich, grilled meats. Best of all, the prices offer incredible value for El Nido. I love grabbing a few skewers, sipping on the warm soup, and soaking in the roadside atmosphere. To me, this is island life at its most authentic.

Best restaurants in El Nido : Luway luway

Average Cost: Around 500 – 1000 PHP

Among the many brunch spots in El Nido, Luway Luway Cafe is a popular recommendation that often spreads through word-of-mouth among travellers.

The setting is relaxed and authentic, offering a straightforward glimpse into island life.

One of the most distinctive features is the tradition of leaving your shoes at the door; walking barefoot across the wooden floors and bamboo mats immediately sets a homey, laid-back tone, as if you are visiting a local friend’s home.

A notable feature is their use of 100% Filipino coffee, which offers a bold, rich profile for those starting their morning.

The menu’s main draw is the Smoothie Bowl, known for being one of the most generous portions in town and topped with crunchy granola.

For those preferring savoury options, the Veggie Burger and Egg Sandwiches are consistent favourites, prepared with fresh ingredients and balanced seasoning.

After dining here, it’s easy to understand why this spot is such a highly-rated recommendation online. It offers the kind of quality and authentic character that truly justifies the hype for a local breakfast.

Best restaurants in El Nido : Aubrie’s plant-based vegan cuisine

Average Cost: 500 – 1000 PHP

Located in the newly developed town square, Aubrie’s offers a refined plant-based dining experience in a bright, welcoming setting.

While the square itself has a modern energy, the restaurant provides a peaceful vantage point where you can catch glimpses of the bay between the surrounding buildings. It is well-regarded for its hospitable service, and I found it quickly became a familiar, reliable stop throughout my stay.

The menu is well-regarded for its high-quality vegan offerings.

A frequently recommended choice is the Caesar Wrap, which features smoky tempeh and fresh spinach in a generous portion.

The Bourbon Burger is another staple, favoured for its consistent texture and flavour. For beverages, the oat milk cappuccino and fresh, lightly sweetened fruit shakes are common highlights.

While prices are slightly higher than local small shops, the combination of the menu and the coastal view makes it a solid option in El Nido.

Best restaurants in El Nido : Oceanview Chinese Restaurant

Average Cost: 500 – 1000 PHP

If you are tired after a long day of exploring El Nido and want some hot Chinese food, Oceanview is a great spot.

Since the restaurant is located on the 5th floor of the hotel, the vantage point is excellent for looking over the bay and watching the boats pass by.

In my experience, arriving a little earlier for dinner is well worth it to appreciate the changing colours of the sunset clouds. As night falls, the lights reflecting on the water create a very relaxing atmosphere, making it a refreshing alternative for me whenever I need a break from the usual island barbecue.

The menu features a variety of classic dishes. The Sweet and Sour Pork is a staple here, while the fried squid and dumplings are also consistent options.

Despite the elevated setting, the pricing remains accessible, supplemented by a scheduled “Happy Hour” for drinks. The staff are recognised for their efficient and helpful service, making it a reliable alternative to local BBQ or seafood spots.

Best restaurants in El Nido : Big Bad Thai

Average Cost: 500 – 1000 PHP

For those seeking Thai cuisine in El Nido, Big Bad Thai is a prominent choice. Located on a second and third-floor terrace overlooking the main street, it offers a vantage point to watch the town’s activity.

The restaurant typically maintains a lively atmosphere, reflecting the busy energy of the island.

The menu focuses on classic flavours, with the Pad Thai and Green Curry being the most frequently ordered items. The Pad Thai is noted for its generous portion and traditional preparation.

As a popular spot, there is often a wait for a table during peak hours, and prices are higher than the local average.

However, I found the dining experience to be well worth the visit, whether you prefer the cool comfort of the air-conditioned indoor space or the scenic views from the seaside terrace. For me, the combination of that sunset vantage point and the quality of the dishes makes it a consistent and reliable option.

Best restaurants in El Nido : OPPA Kitchen

Average Cost: Around 300 – 500 PHP

Located in the centre of town, OPPA Korean Kitchen offers a selection of Korean fusion dishes.

The restaurant is a popular choice for a light lunch or a quick meal between activities. Since the seating area is quite limited, the space tends to fill up quickly; it’s consistently busy in the evenings, with a lively crowd that speaks to its popularity. For me, the unique fusion flavours make it well worth the visit, provided you arrive early to secure a spot.

The Tuna Tacos is a signature item, noted for their flavourful sauce and distinct seasoning. Another frequent choice is the Bulgogi Cheesesteak, which features tender beef on soft bread for a more substantial option.

The Bokkeum Noodles are a reliable, straightforward dish that complements the more unique fusion offerings. Overall, it is a practical spot for those seeking a departure from traditional island fare with a focus on fresh, fusion flavours.

Conclusion

What I love most about dining in El Nido is the sheer variety. From humble roadside stalls selling balut to rooftop spots like Piece of Sky with sweeping views, there’s genuinely something for every budget and appetite.

Although town is definitely becoming more modern with most places accepting credit cards now, I’d still recommend keeping some cash (PHP) on you, especially for smaller local eateries and street food vendors.

As you make your way through town, you’ll probably find, like I did, that the best food experiences come from mixing it up: sitting down for a quality meal at a proper restaurant one night, then sharing a bowl of chao long with locals the next.

No matter where I eat in El Nido, it’s the warmth of the Palawan people that always stands out the most.
