This section explains how to fly to El Nido, which airlines operate the route, and what international travelers should expect when planning their connection.

Reaching El Nido (Lio Airport) primarily depends on Cebu Pacific, the main domestic carrier for this route. This means international travelers will need to plan for a connecting flight within the Philippines.

Direct flights to El Nido are available from major hubs like Cebu (CEB), Clark (CRK), and Boracay (Caticlan, MPH). Among these, Clark traditionally offers the most frequent flight options.

Peak Season Advice

Flights and accommodation fill up quickly during the high season in El Nido (December to May). Booking flights and airport transfers early is strongly recommended to avoid last-minute stress.

Facilities at Lio Airport (Before Departure)

Lio Airport is small, and almost everything sits past security. Once you have checked in, dropped your bags and cleared security, you reach the departure lounge, where you will find The Café, a small counter beside the boarding gate serving coffee, pastries and cold drinks. It takes both cash and card.

Guests staying at Pangulasian, Lagen or Miniloc can use the El Nido Resorts Exclusive Lounge, a separate seating area off the same waiting hall.

There are souvenir shops in the terminal, but no full restaurant. The airport is fine for a coffee or a light bite before boarding, so if you want a proper meal, eat in El Nido town or around Lio Beach first.

Lio Airport also has no banks, ATMs or currency exchange counters. Withdraw cash in El Nido town before your flight, or change money at a major airport such as Clark, Cebu or Manila. The Café accepts cards, but carry enough Philippine Peso in cash for the rest of your trip.

Because the airport is small, check-in and security procedures are usually quick, but it’s still best to arrive early during peak season.

Exploring the Lio Area

The Lio area remains peaceful and relatively undeveloped, offering a more natural side of El Nido. While walking around the beach and nearby paths, you might spot monkeys hopping around in the trees, or see colorful tropical birds and other wildlife.

It’s a calm and scenic place to slow down, enjoy the sound of the waves, and ease into island life.

Tip: As cute as they are, don’t feed or scare the wildlife. Respecting nature helps preserve this beautiful environment for everyone to enjoy.
